主に、
ジョンが書いた曲。

That’s my first attempt to write a ballad proper.
That was the precursor to ‘In My Life’.
It has the same chord sequence as ‘In My Life’:
D and B minor and E minor, those kinds of things.
And it’s semi-autobiographical, but not consciously.
It shows that I wrote sentimental love ballads,
silly love songs, way back when.

Variation

1964/2/27、
アビイ・ロード第2スタジオ。

テイク15まで吹き込まれ、
途中でアレンジが変更されている。

テイク3からドラムがヘヴィーになって、
テイク11からオープニングにジョンのアコギとジョージのエンディング・ギターが追加される。

最終的に、
テイク15がベストと判断されて完成。

1969年の唯一のアルバム『A Swing To Folk』収録。

オルガンの伴奏で、
4人のハーモニーが美しく奏でるこのカヴァー。

たまには、
こういう感じも悪くない。

2012年のアルバム『Let It Be Roberta: Roberta Flack Sings The Beatles』収録。

これもなかなかないアプローチで、
聴くほどに良さがわかる。
